Sellout Youth is an alternative/punk/garage rock band based in Alexandria, Virginia founded in 2009 by Jack Hubbell (Guitar, vocals) and Erik Liner (Drums, keyboards). CJ Sumpter soon joined as the bassist. Originally performing under the name Half Brother, the band has played DC and Northern Virginia music halls since 2010. The band originally released two CDs entitled 0.5 and Rejuvenation. These short runs sold out, so the guys decided to go pro and "Sellout." Jammin' Java and Empire are two of the band's favorite venues during their formative years. They were hand picked by Lucy Bowen McCauley of Bowen McCauley Dance Theater to play the live finale of the rock ballet Lucy's Local Playlist in 2012, touring to play in 2012 and 2013 at such diverse venues as the Wintergreen Summer Music Festival, Atlas Intersections Festival, Arlington's Synetic Theater, and Shenandoah University. They released a selection of songs from their short runs as the album "When We Were Half Brother." Their sophomore effort, "Letters to Amy," shows a maturity and growth of their songwriting talents.
